Bangkok Bank of Commerce (BBC)
Back in 1997, Bangkok Bank of commerce was ACQUIRED by Krung Thai Bank. 'Good' assets were transfered to Krung Thai Bank. 'BAD' assets were transfered Bangkok commercial assets managment to chase the remaining debtors.
This is because the bank had RUN ON THE BANK. I guess it load out too much money that it had so many doubtful debts and so many hundred billion baht was injected into BBC to rescue it but to o avail.
Because of Bangkok Bank of commerce scandal, Bank of Thailand Chairman was forced to resign. Follow by the changing of Finance Minister. In 1996-7 (2 years), Finance Minister post was replaced 6 times.
Why am i saying all these ? ? ?
I had a savings account with Bangkok bank of commerce. It was opened back in 1995 with Buranasuksa school. The outstanding balance printed on the passbook was 24**.** baht. All the accountant fault that she did not arrange for the withdrawal of money from the bank before it collapsed.
